Homemade Dishwasher Soap

We are in a time when everyone is looking for ways to save money or cut back.  I finally found a homemade dishwasher soap that works for me.  I hope you all like it.  Now I can hear the sceptic how is it saving you money when you have to buy the dishwasher soap.  I have found that the $2 dishwasher soap at Dollar General is the cheapest and if I make this mix I only use 2 tablespoons per load.  Makes everything last longer and it cleans well.

What you need:

1 cup borax
1 cup baking soda
1 cup generic dishwasher soap

(optional) some white vinegar

How to Make it

1. In a container, mix together the baking soda and borax. Store this powdered mixture in a container with a lid.

2. When you run the dishwasher, put two tablespoons of the powdered mixture into your dishwasher's detergent dispenser. To boost the washing power even more, add a drop or two of Dawn dish soap on top of your powdered mixture.

3. You may also want to put some white vinegar into your rinse dispenser.

4. Make sure you rinse your dirty dishes in the sink before you load them into your dishwasher.
