One Small Step Forward, One Giant Step Back

Here I am and the Lord has once again put on my heart to type.  You know He must know me really well cause I am not a bit tired.  Anyway when I last wrote I had a mess with some cookies and I thought I had really learned that it is better to laugh at yourself then to let my children see me angry over some dumb, burnt cookies.  Well guess what, Sunday morning guess who comes to visit the Olinger household.  Yep you guessed it that Old Pain in my backside Satan and a going on teenager.  I blew my cool over something somewhat important (confused yet).  Well not to embarus this going on teenager, but it was something daddy and mom failed to teach, because after all we are human too.  Tonight I began to think about all this and a thought came to mind and heart.  How many times do we stand back after we have learned something and think WOW, I have REALLY LEARNED THIS only to find out that our Heavenly Daddy is there holding us up from behind and smiling at us cause we gained that much needed convidence.  Then we go into that two year old mood (admit it we are all children at heart at least in God's eyes) and we say "I dode it meself" and then ~ SPLAT ~  Well don't get discouraged eventually we'll get there, but I have a feeling that it will be when we get to go home.

Trouble with Cookies

Some of you are reading this thinking "SHE'S NUTS, why on earth is she showing this BIG, BAD MISTAKE."  Well I am glad you asked.  It is 10:57 PM and I am trying to get a jump on some Christmas baking.  I followed  the Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe to a T.  I even got to try out my little cookie scooper so the cookies would be the perfect size for the cookie plate wreath for tomorrow night's Christmas party at church.  I put them in the oven for 10 min. and I check on them at 5 min. everything was ok.  I then took them out at the sound of the timer and volia the first batch ruined.  I am not too upset after all maybe with my oven you needed a shorter time so in goes the second batch for 8 min. and again disaster.  I am a little frustrated at this point, but being a gluton for punishment I try for the last time and end up taking them out after 6 min.  I am very frustrated at this point, but I realize one of two things could happen here.  I could cry (thought about it),  I could get angry (have in the past) and stay that way all night and in the morning.  Then I came up with an idea.  Humility and a lesson.  I don't know what caused my cookies to turn out this way and I can't figure out what I did wrong, but after I die my children can remember the fit I threw over some dumb cookies or they can see their Mommy and Daddy in the morning when Daddy is being his normal, fun loving teaser and mommy thinking about sending him to Abu dhabi, as Garfield would say.  Smile if this is the only bad thing that has happen today count your blessings.  Giggles to follow.

An Anniversary Gift From My Honey

An Anniversary Gift From My Honey.  Ain't he sweet.  (Ok sometimes rotten, but I really wouldn't want him any other way)  He is the love of my life and my joy.  I have truely been blessed.  Thank you Lord for this man you allowed me to marry.  Thank you for when I was a very foolish wife this steady man did not walk away.  Thank you Lord for giving me 13 years with him and Lord if I could be so bold may I have many, many more with him.

About this Blog

I would like to start out by thanking those who visit my site and read my rabblings.  I would also like to let you know (in case you don't know all ready) I am still a growing wife, mother, and young child of God.  I make mistakes and I fall quite a lot.  I also have opinions and that is basically what this blog is a way to vent and a way to express myself.  While the Bible is never wrong I sometimes misread or am mistaken as to what something might mean in the Bible that is why, if you are a born again child of God, you have the Holy Spirit to teach you.  This does not mean however that I shouldn't express my opinions or conflicts as they might teach something as well.  We can and should all learn from each other and as a woman I am to teach the younger women as it says in Titus 2:3-5 "The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."

Will You Let The Alter Alter Your Life?

This poem was written by my me on June 7th,  2001

Will you let the Alter alter your life or will you run and hide?  Jesus is knocking upon some doors tonight.  Some are fearing Oh, not yet, you see I am to dirty.  Others are saying not today maybe someday.  Some day may never come.  Won't you come while He's calling for you.  One day the calling won't come.

Some of His children are sitting in these pews.  Will you let the Alter alter your life too?  Jesus is calling His wayward child home.  He is saying come get closer to me.  Come get right with me.  I have never moved from where you left me.  Come start praying for souls to be saved.  Get right with your brothers and sisters.  My arms are open to thee.

So this plea is made, the call goes out.  Won't you let the Alter, alter your life.

Halloween and Christmas

Before I write this I must first stand here and ask that no one get offended or upset.  This is just something that has been boiling on my heart and the Lord won't let me get around this topic.  This topic is not aimed at any specific person although Satan will make sure and cause a stink about it because it does expose him for what he is and what he has succeeded in doing.  With all that being said here it goes.

We have just finished a holiday that this world celebrates and that I personally hate.  I hate it because it celebrates Satan and the occult.  The world knows this and so do Christians the line was always drawn there.  However lately more and more Christians seem to think it is harmless and what could be the harm in Tricker Treating.  The answer is simple it still is a celebration for Satan and his demons.  Think not go ask some of the Satan worshippers (better yet you had better not), or true believers in witchcraft.  They will all tell you that Halloween is when the strangest and most powerful things happen.

So why am I upset well these kinds of Christians that I am talking about will then turn around and cry out about how Christians celebrate Christmas as being of the world.  You know with Christmas trees and gift giving and stuff like that.  Except first they are being a hipocrite and are showing that they don't know there history.  They are also playing right into Satan's hands.  They are aiding Satan in doing something very evil.  I have already stated why Halloween should not be celebrated, but is how we celebrate Christmas wrong as well.

Let's take a look at the history shall we.  First Christmas celebrates the birth of our Savior, who was born to die for our sins and without that we could never have been saved.  So that is Satan's first trick get Christians to not want to celebrate Christmas at all.  Make it look like a worldly holiday, but without a Christmas there could not be an Easter.  Second let's look at the Christmas tree.  Well yes in the Bible it does tell about a group who worshiped the tree in the old testament.  It never tells what kind of tree though and I kinda doubt it was an evergreen, but it might have been.  Let me ask you though does the world know of this tradition and is it still practiced today yes it is called going green or tree huggers and has nothing to do with Christmas trees.  Before Germany gave the U.S. the gift of the Christmas tree Christians used evergreen boughs to decorate, because the evergreen is the symbol of everlasting life (evergreens don't die in the winter).

What about gifts then?  That is a good question that is also brought about by these same Christians.  If it is Jesus birthday why do we get gifts?  The giving of gifts to others is to remind us and others of the GREATEST GIFT God Gave us.  By the way did you know that is salvation being showed another words what an opportunity to witness about what God has given us.

Another thing these Christians have done is taught their children that Santa Clause is Satan Clause and when people come up like they normally do to there children these Christians are proud when after asked if Santa is going to visit them.  The child blatanly says well he is Satan Clause.  Oh, how sad to hear this.  They have unknowingly helped push that person farther away from the very truth of God's love and gift.

So what about Santa, and frosty and his friends.  I am glad you asked.  They are fairy tales pure and simple and to tell your children the truth of such is not wrong.  Boy what a testamony for that same little boy or girl who when asked if they are excited about Santa Clause to look at that person and say oh I'm excited about Baby Jesus who came and to die for everyone's sin.  I get to go to Heaven because of that gift.  If some of you are thinking your little one couldn't say that.  Remember the saying out of the mouths of Babes and sucklings.

Again I hope no one is offended.  Next week we will be talking about Thanksgiving (I hope)

The Old Path for Godly Women

The old path for Godly women.  Some may ask where is that path at so I can follow in it.  Being a godly woman and mother is found in the King James 1611 Holy Bible.  We wives and mothers are not only the guides to our home, but also the resident doctor, teacher, chief chef, bottle washer, comforter, decorator, cleaner, laundry, and lover of our husbands.  Basically we are the holy spirit of the home with our husbands being the Lord.  I think it is past time that we go back to the old path of being a wife and mother after all haven't you heard that the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.  There are many examples in the bible of great men of God who where molded into what they would become for Christ simply by sitting at the feet of there mothers and fathers.  Our mothers showed great love and compassion in days of old.  They believed in whispering the words of the Lord to our little ones in their little ears and falling on their knees weeping and praying for their little ones to grow up and serve their Lord and Savior.  We need godly older Titus 2 ladies that are willing to obey the call to teach the younger women how to be mothers and wives.  We also need godly young women who are willing to listen to their wise counsel.  So as for today, after all that is what we are commanded to do, serve the Lord.

Homemade Dishwasher Soap

We are in a time when everyone is looking for ways to save money or cut back.  I finally found a homemade dishwasher soap that works for me.  I hope you all like it.  Now I can hear the sceptic how is it saving you money when you have to buy the dishwasher soap.  I have found that the $2 dishwasher soap at Dollar General is the cheapest and if I make this mix I only use 2 tablespoons per load.  Makes everything last longer and it cleans well.

What you need:

1 cup borax
1 cup baking soda
1 cup generic dishwasher soap

(optional) some white vinegar

How to Make it

1. In a container, mix together the baking soda and borax. Store this powdered mixture in a container with a lid.

2. When you run the dishwasher, put two tablespoons of the powdered mixture into your dishwasher's detergent dispenser. To boost the washing power even more, add a drop or two of Dawn dish soap on top of your powdered mixture.

3. You may also want to put some white vinegar into your rinse dispenser.

4. Make sure you rinse your dirty dishes in the sink before you load them into your dishwasher.

Lest We Forget

Here we are again Sept 11th,  2009.  Eight years since that horrific day.  A day we will never and should never forget cause to forget means we Americans didn't get the message.  There seems to be a lot of messages that we have forgotten though from that day those many years ago.  Did you forget the panic that you left that day as you watched that first plane go into the first building?  Did you to think it was just an accident not intentional done after all who would knowingly do such a thing.  Did you forget the pain and overwhelming anger that you felt when the second plane hit and in that moment you knew IT WAS NO ACCIDENT?  Oh, those poor people on the plane as they watched the scene unfold.  Did you forget those brave men and women in that third plane that called their dear loved ones and said goodbye?  Do you remember the pride that you felt knowing that they went down with a fight?  Did you forget watching in horror as the towers came down and the deafening screams and knowing those lives that were lost?  Did you forget that this was done for no other reason than someone HATED AMERICAN and what SHE STANDS FOR.  FREEDOM.
Do you remember what happened after that?  Do you remember the FLAGS THAT WENT UP AND STAYED UP?  I guess not I don't see as many today as there was then.  Do you remember the people running, RUNNING to the church house and crying to the Lord for mercy and forgiveness?  Do you remember asking the Lord for protection and wisdom for our President and that the war would not come anymore on American soil?
It is time American's Remember the trueth.  It is time American's turn back to the God that they are now once again forgetting.  It is time us American Christian's stand up as Nehemiah did and stand on our rights.  We fought in the war too.  It is time American Christian's remember II Chronicles 7:14 "If  my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."  Did we for get the first part of that verse and are we just excepting God to heal our land?  Did you forget the part of humbling before the Great and Mighty I AM?  Did you forget to pray and seek His Face?  Did you forget to TURN FROM YOUR WICKED WAYS?
GOD HELP US IF WE HAVE FORGOTTEN!!!!
