II Timothy 1:5...Little Timothy's Page

"When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also."  II Timothy 1:5

Welcome to the Little Timothy's Page,  This is where I will be placing all our memory verses and what we learned Sunday.  I will also from time to time link a craft or activities that I find that may go along with what we are studying.  I may post videos of my class toddlers reciting verses or singing songs (via parents approval).  I hope you enjoy this page and by all means let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions.

New Unit:  David

Theme:  David Helps a Sad King

Monthly Memory Verse: Psalm 32:7  "Thou shalt preserve me from trouble"

Today's Lesson:  Today we spoke of a little topic called Encouraging others.  Our story is found in I Samuel 16:14-23, it is where the little shepherd boy named David was asked to come and live in the palace and when the king was sad or discouraged David would play his harp.

During the Week (from the teacher book)   "A smile, a note, a phone call, a candy bar, or a cup of coffee can minister to the heart of someone who is hurting.  David ministered to King Saul through music.  How can you help someone who is discouraged?  Read all of I Samuel 16 to gain insight on David's background and his godly character.  Psalm chapters 37, 40, and 47

Theme: Joseph Forgives His Brothers

Monthly Memory Verse:  James 1:19 "Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath"

Today's Lesson:  Today we learned about forgiveness.  Joseph's brothers came to get food from Egypt because of the great famine.  We saw how Joseph's dream of his brothers bowing before him had come true.  That the brothers meant harm and bad by what they had done, but God meant it for good.  Joseph had seen his brothers had changed.  They loved each other.  Joseph and his whole family came to live in Egypt.

During the Week (from the teacher book)  "Joseph's family, which was torn apart by jealousy, covetousness, and hatred, was restored through forgiveness.  Joseph exemplifies how God wants us to handle our hurts-- with forgiveness.  The natural tendency is revenge.  Pray that our children will begin to grasp the power of forgiveness.
Read Genesis chapter 42 through chapter 46.

Today's video is about the Power Christ has over sin.  Hope you all enjoy and have a blessed day.

Theme: Joseph Helps the King

Monthly Memory Verse:  James 1:19 "Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath"

Today's Lesson:  We learned that Joseph had to stay in that prison for two more years before the waiter remembered Joseph.  He was finally was called before Pharaoh and he asked him to interpret two dreams.  Joseph gave credit to God who would interpret the dreams through him. We learned that there were going to be 7 good years and 7 bad years.  Wise Joseph told Pharaoh they should save from the 7 good years and store it away for the 7 bad years of famine. Pharaoh promoted Joseph and put him in charge of the endeavor.  God blessed.

During the Week (from the teacher book)  "Even though Joseph experienced difficult things in his life, he trusted God.  We will see more examples of his trust in God in this week's lesson.  Through Joseph's example, we learn that we can always trust God.  He is always ready to help us.  Study the lesson text and also read Psalm 105:1-39 and Psalm 37:1-9

Our craft for this week is found on Pinterest.  I hope you enjoy the link.  I look forward to seeing some of the art. Please click the link to Painting Fireworks.

Theme: Joseph Works for Potiphar

Monthly Memory Verse:  James 1:19 "Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath"

Today's Lesson:(quoted from the teachers book) "Our lives are made up of monotonous tasks like washing dishes, mowing lawns, and doing laundry. Joseph is a wonderful example of diligence in everyday tasks.  Joseph did not choose to be Potiphar's slave, but he did choose to honor God every day in everything he did.  Ask God to help you achieve that goal.  Study the lesson texts and read what God has to say about diligence in Proverbs chapter 20 and 22.

While looking around on Pinterest I found a neat thing for toddlers and preschoolers it is called Read your bible to your kids.  It comes from the blog The Purposeful Wife  Below is the links to the pages I am speaking about with a daily verse or verses on the subject for the month.  I am going to start with Obedience  Read the Bible to your Kids! Obedience January 2016
Deuteronomy 11:19 tells us "And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."  It also tells us in Proverbs to train up our children in the way they should go.  The best way to do that is start by sharing with them everyday what the bible says and you are never ever to young to start having the bible read to you.  As a mommy and teacher I knew when my children were very very young I wanted them to have a love for God and His word.  I wanted them more then anything else to know that God loved and gave His life for them and that when the time came they should accept Him as their Savior.  This takes instilling the Word in their hearts and living it before them.  We all fail and have our own moments of sin, but their again is living and breathing before us the Bible and we should use it in those moments when we do fail to train our children on what we do with sin, wrong, hurt feelings and living before God.  I hope you enjoy this post and may it bless your hearts and lives.

Theme: Jonah and the Whale.

Monthly Memory Verse:  "My God will hear me"  Micah 7:7

Today's Lesson:   Today we learned about the consequences of Jonah disobeying and running away from God.  Due to Jonah's sin he endangered unbelievers, and was cast into the raging sea where a fish God had prepared swallowed up Jonah.  Jonah was given space of three days and three nights where he did confess his sin and repented of what he had done.  God used Jonah again and told him to obey and go to Nineveh and preach that they too needed confess and repent of their evil ways and they did.  Everyone did from the king to the cattle repented.

Crafts/ActivityLet's pin a tail on the whale today.  Simply draw or print out a copy of a whale and cut off his tail.  Place the rest of the whale on the fridg. and put tape on the back of the whale's tail.  Then hand the tail to the child, blindfold, spin and let him/her and have them try to pin the tail on the whale.

Thought of the Day:  Children often have to be told what that have done wrong and why it was wrong.  Never once in the bible does God ever rebuke someone and not tell them what they did wrong.  I have recently been studying that little word repent and came across some awesome notes.  I have been sharing what I have learned here on my blog as well as on my Facebook Page
I also found in the picture below the R's of Repentance.
The R's of Repentance are as follows:
#1.  Realize - Know you've made a mistake
#2.  Regret - Feel sorry for what you've done
#3.  Resolve - Decide to change your behavior
#4.  Reveal - Confess your sin
#5.  Restitution - Restore what was lost if possible
#6.  Release - Forgive others and yourself
#7.  Receive - Gift of forgiveness and peace

Theme for the Month: Jonah and the Whale.

Monthly Memory Verse:  "My God will hear me"  Micah 7:7

Today's Lesson:   We learned about Jonah and his disobedience.  We learned we can't and shouldn't run away from God.  We learned we should obey right away.  When Jonah ran from God, he endangered others by his disobedience.  Next week we will learn what happens with Jonah and a great big fish.

Fun Note:  Jonah 1:17 says great fish
"Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights."

Matthew 12:40 says great fish
" For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."

This is a link to a fun craft idea you and your child can try at home.  The craft and the weekly Planting Faith at Home activity page will reinforce the lesson being taught.  Have fun and enjoy!    Click here for Craft

Sunday,  May 15,  2016 Sunday School ages 3 to 6

Review:  Last week we spoke about Joseph and his coat of many colors from Genesis 37:1-4.  We talked about Jacob and his sons and how Jacob gave a beautiful new coat with many colors to Joseph.  We spoke that Joseph knew his father loved him and that the coat was a special gift.  We then spoke about the word "jealousy".  Joseph brothers were jealous of this love and gift.

Memory Verse:  (our memory verses will be for two weeks, but will be reviewed weekly)

"Let us love one another: for love is of God"  I John 4:7

Today's Lesson:  Our story today was called "Emily is Jealous"  It puts the story of Joseph and his coat in a light that reaches the toddler right at his/her level.  It is about a little girl who gets jealous of her brother getting gift and attention after breaking his leg.  The little girl talks to her mommy about it and mommy explains why the gifts and attention is needed.  The little girl is then reminded of her Sunday School lesson about Joseph and how she too was acting like the brothers and being jealous.

Craft/Activity:  Below is a link to a file folder game you can make and play with your preschooler to reinforce the story and colors learning. Josephs Colorful coat File Folder Game
