Inside Grandmothers Bible

You know you can find treasure in the most unique places.  I have one of my grandmothers bibles and inside the pages are faded and worn a good indication that they have been read and reread.  I also found a newspaper clipping from Ann Landers.  The following is the article:

Dear Ann Landers: 

All my married life I've felt like a nobody because I was "only a housewife."  Today I read something that gave me a lift.

The home economics department of our state college published a leaflet in chart form.  It shows what a housewife is worth per week in dollars and cents on today's labor market.  Here it is:

Cooking, table setting, sewing, at $2.00 an hour........$50.00

Dish washing, at $1.25 an hour...................................  17.50

Child Care at $.50 and hour......................................  17.50

Routine housework, $1.25 an hour............................  22.50

Laundry, at $1.25 an hour ........................................    6.25

Ironing, at $1.25 an hour...........................................    6.25

The chart suggests adding 25% for miscellaneous work.  So the grand total is $150 a week.  On yearly basis a housewife is worth $7800.  Tonight when Mr. Greatheart comes home I'm going to greet him like a woman who earns almost $8,000 a year because that's what I am. ~ Ashamed no longer~

Count Your Blessings

Something that I don't do enough, not even nearly enough is count my blessings.  God has been so good to me and many times I seem to slap Him in the face and cry out when things aren't going exactly the way I want them too.  He has given me so much and all I seem to be saying is "GIVE ME MORE, LORD AND MAKE IT YESTERDAY".  I sound like the two year old in the store that everyone dreads to see or hear.  No patience, no love, no compassion  OH LORD I DO NEED HELP.  Maybe my prayer should be "Quite down fears, worries go to sleep.  I am going to Praise my Lord for what He has done for me!"

Be Vigilant

I would like to point out before I go any further that I believe firmly that women are to train, teach, and guide younger women and that men are the head of the home and church.  This blog was and is intended solely for the purpose of doing just that to train, teach, and guide young women, wives, and mothers.  This blog also is for the author, which is me, to sometimes vent out what God is teaching me in my heart.  With all that being said I will begin.

I Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."  As I look at this verse I see that we are to be sober (sound minded, to do one's duty, be moderate, self-controlled, thoughtful, and to learn to make wise decisions and judgments).  We are to be vigilant (on guard, ready, prepared through prayer and reading God's word).  We do those two things because of our enemy.  If you are a child of God you have an enemy his name is Satan and he does have an army.  Lately I have been hearing so much on the topic of bullying, cyber bullying, and children getting killed or hurt by it.  I have heard about our identity is in danger.  Well Christians wake up your enemy is attacking.  It is time that us seasoned Christians start teaching these baby Christians to live the word of God.  We are always ready to seemingly to force people to come to church, get saved, and then right away we tell them they HAVE to be baptized.  Is this wrong?  I say yes for these simple reasons, biblical reasons.  First unless the spirit is leading or drawing them to be saved they can't be saved.  Secondly, after they are saved the Lord then leads you (NOTICE I said the Lord will lead you to baptism).  Yes we can show them and tell them that the next step according to the word of God is baptism, but as I have started to see you must let that choice be theirs and theirs alone.  Our job as christians is relatively simple.  We are to be a witness not just on Sunday Morning, Sunday Night, Wednesday Night and oh yes forced door to door salesmen, we are to be a LIVING, BREATHING, 24 HOUR A DAY, 7 DAY A WEEK CHILD OF THE MOST HIGH GOD.  After a child is born I doubt very seriously if a good mother leaves that child to fend for themselves.  Never to again to love, nurture and raise that child of course not the child would die soon after birth, but that is exactly what we are doing to these new Christians we are forcing them to comply to what we believe, instead of teaching them to live in this new life and new world according to how God would have them be.

Eight Things God Requires of a Woman

Titus 2:3-5 "The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;  That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed"   Right here in this verse are eight things that God requires of a woman, which if she does not obey she is guilty of blaspheming God's word?  Now before you turn me off I hope you stop and realize what it exactly means to BLASPHEM.  If that word doesn't strike you with great fear it should.  Blasphem is to put oneself above God, either by what you say or what you do.  So what are those eight things God wants us women to do.

1.     To be Sober (sound minded, wise)

2.     To love their husbands

3.     To love their children

4.     To be discreet

5.     Chaste

6.     Keepers at home

7.     Good

8.     Obedient to their own husbands

I know easier said then done, but hey it says what it says.  Live it or not that is your choice.
