A Mama's Christmas Blessing

In Proverbs 31:28 it says "Her children arise up, and call her blessed;..." I have learned these last few months that this verse takes on many different forms.  I use to think that it meant that they would physically proclaim that with their mouths and to some extent that is true.  But this old mama still has a whole lot of things left to learn in this life.  One of them being that God can do whatever He wants whenever and however He wants to do them.  My children argue just the same as every other human beings, but I never thought I would love to hear it.  I set here right now and cry with pride.  I never thought I would hear the day children would argue over who's turn it was to talk to Jesus first at meal time, but mine do.  I never thought I would hear the day children would argue over who's turn it was to read the Christmas story Christmas morning, but mine do.  I never thought I would see the day when children would cry and I mean real big tears cause they didn't get to go to Jesus's House for Sunday School or Church, but mine did.  So you see they have already blessed they have learned the lessons from their parents that God is our Heavenly Daddy to be loved and respected just as much and more than our earthly daddy's and mommy's.  So yes I truly believed they have also honoured their mama this day by their deep love for God.  Thank you Jacob and Erica thank you.  Love mama.

What Christmas ALREADY????!!!!

Yeah I know like really boys and girls.  I keep telling everyone that it just doesn't feel like Christmas.  What is wrong with me this year?  Something just doesn't seem right in all this.  I sit here tonight in tears cause anyone who knows me KNOWS that this is my most favorite time of the year.  I mean come on my decorations are all up, candy is getting ready to be made, Christmas cards are going out, and Christmas music is being played.  Then it comes to me that it is my attitude.  There is a part of me who knows that down home there is a somebody who is missing.  Though I didn't see her much in my grown up years as I should.  I remember the Christmas Eves when we would gather round and listen to my aunts and uncles sing songs with us and a Granny doll for us girls (made specially by our granny).   The summers when she took us fishen at our pond,, the outhouses where cousins (more like brother) would lean up against it so I couldn't get out,  the hay forts, and just love (sure miss the loven) .   The old, wooden swing that was tied up in the tree that was our best friend.  A place of laughter and a place to cry, a place for dreamen and just plain thinking.  As I grew I guess those memories faded and were taken for granted, but as I look as those attitudes of the past few weeks I see I have allowed them to take over my current attitude which is not right or fair to those here and now memories waiting to be made.

The Joy of the Lord

I am not be definition a joyful person.  As one looks at my character they would describe me as serious, negative in the sense that I can point out the bad in something before I point out the good.  I love things that are black and white, right or wrong I hate the middle of the road kind of stuff.  Many times in my life people would always say cheer up, look happy, quite, stop frowning stop looking that way.  I always felt those people, some well meaning and others not so much, were just being critical of me.  After all if they could see what I see and felt the way I felt then they would understand.  Then I started hearing my children ask those dreaded words "are you mad mom" the answer would always be no just thinking and in my heart I wondered did these other "Christians" train them to see this in me.  A little foolish I guess, but still it was what I felt.  I also see the bad in myself before I see any good.  As I watched the new DVD that I just bought "Tea with Michelle Duggar"  the Lord started to show me more things in my life where I should move up in.  One of the things that struck me in the interview was that she was in her laundry room one early morning, when her children were younger, crying to the Lord.  Her question was how Lord, she couldn't keep up, she was so tired.  The answer to her was Nehemiah 8:10 "....for the joy of the LORD is your strength."  As I listened to Michelle sing the little song we all know so well "the joy of the Lord is my strength"  I realize that yes, while there is a serious side to life and a lot of wrong in this old world with the Lord as my strength there is a lot I could and should look for that is good.  Now I know this will not be easy, as Satan would love nothing better than to see me fall and fail once again, but as we teach our little babies to walk and encourage and praise their efforts.  Our heavenly Father also gives us encouragement and love in His word to keep on trying.
