Lesson's In Character

I have taken a long, hard look lately at my homeschooling and at my children in general.  It is always a good thing to review things once in a while and see what is working and what isn't.  I started noticing that my teens needed to work on some of their character traits.  But, once again I those voices from the past echoed, "Oh their too old for that now", "It's too late", "You failed, once they reach age 2 or 3 they are set in their ways",  "You should have taught that sooner".  Well needless to say I stuffed those evil thoughts away and remembered that we all have things we learned that may have been wrong and we have all had to relearn somethings.  Anyway I have found this awesome book called "Portraits of Integrity"  I downloaded for free on my kindle.  The children are very interested in the stories and I am loving the KJV verses and how they are linking character.  It also shows interesting people from history.

Some other links that I looked at and used are:

* Note:  I use and believe in the King James Version (KJV) while these site might not I use their ideas and use my bible.

Schooling Options

There are several options when deciding on your child(ren)s educational future.  The steps that my hubby and I  used to reach our decisions are the following.   First we listed our options as I have done below.  Then we prayed and sought God's will in our lives.  In searching for God's will, we sought scripture and again prayed, prayed and prayed.

Option #1 Public School

Defined as - a school that is maintained at public expense for the education of the children of a community or district and that constitutes a part of a system of free public education commonly including primary and secondary schools.

Public schools are funded through and ran by government.  Most of the expenses are paid through taxes.

Option #2 Private School

Defined as - a school supported by a private organization or private individuals rather that by the government

Private schools are usually are christian ran and are paid by the parents through fees.

Option # 3 Homeschooling

Defined as - teaching ones child(ren) at home.

Parents are totally responsible for the teaching and the choosing and paying for of curriculum

Option # 4 Un-schooling

Defined as - a home-school education with the child taking the primary responsibility instead of a parent or teacher; also called child-directed learning, self-learning.

About this Blog (reposted)

About this Blog

I would like to start out by thanking those who visit my site and read my rabblings.  I would also like to let you know (in case you don't know all ready) I am still a growing wife, mother, and young child of God.  I make mistakes and I fall quite a lot.  I also have opinions and that is basically what this blog is a way to vent and a way to express myself.  While the Bible is never wrong I sometimes misread or am mistaken as to what something might mean in the Bible that is why, if you are a born again child of God, you have the Holy Spirit to teach you.  This does not mean however that I shouldn't express my opinions or conflicts as they might teach something as well.  We can and should all learn from each other and as a woman I am to teach the younger women as it says in Titus 2:3-5 "The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."

From the Heart

Ok folks I never, never meant to offend anyone.  I was stating my opinion and if you look I did say that these are some of the reasons I Kimberly M. Olinger homeschool.  It is called a blog for such a reason.  (I will be reposting my disclaimer again here in a min.)  I reread what I wrote (and note to self need to spell check better).  Just like others are entitled to their opinion and they say it quit alot on facebook.  I am entitled to mine.  I was not meaning to down people who send their children to public school, however my experience is just that mine and thus have formed my OPINION.  Not just the government is aloud to share their OPINIONS.  I am allowed to you.  Also this could open up some much important and very health questions about homeschooling vs. public school.  Never once have I said you are sending your kids to hell in that blog and never once have I called out those who do or don't.  Why you might ask cause that would be wrong.  Very wrong.  Again I am very sorry that I have offended anyone that was NOT my intent.  My intent was to blog and share my thoughts, my feelings, and what I have found in the bible.  My path will not and should not look like yours, nor should your path look like mine.  If you are a born again christian then we are on the same narrow road, however our paths will look different.  Some are one the mountains, while others are on the smaller hills, and yet others are on the deep valleys.  If my post have spoken to some hearts that were wondering about homeschooling vs. public I shared what I thought, what I have learned from the bible, where my path has lead me.  Now listen carefully to what I am about to say next.  Satan wants me to be silent, he wants me to fail, he wants me to SHUT UP!!!!  Those who know me, know  I will NOT back down.  I want you to share in my journey.  Nowhere does it ever say we are ALWAYS going to agree and I have learned that is ok.  Accept people where they are at and learn to still walk along.  Who knows maybe I'll learn something from you and maybe you'll learn something about me.  I am just sharing my journey NOT JUDGING.  By the way, why is it ok for you to voice your opinions and me not to voice mine.  Answer I have a right to speak mine just like you voice yours.  Would we even being having this conversation if I would have said I like blue while you may HATE blue and LOVE purple?  Of course not cause it is sharing a difference of opinion.  I hope this has cleared this up.  I am going to be sharing later some other things I have been learning so I hope to see you around.

Matthew 5:23 "Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee;  Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift."
